What to check when you visit
A buyer who has already done the reading does not need to be persuaded. She needs to be able to check. These are the things worth asking to see, at any jeweller, and you can ask us for every one of them.
- The IGI report for the exact stone in front of you, not a sample report, with its colour, clarity and cut grade.
- On a solitaire, the report number laser inscribed on the girdle, under a loupe. It permanently ties that certificate to that diamond.
- The stone in daylight as well as under display lighting. Display lighting is built to flatter every diamond.
- The price of the diamond alone, separate from the gold and the making charges.
- The exchange and buyback terms, in writing, before you decide.
Every Nivara diamond is the same grade: VVS clarity, E colour, ideal cut, IGI certified. There is no lower tier held back for a friendlier price, so a visit is spent choosing a design, not negotiating a grade. What varies is the setting, the metal, the carat weight and the shape.

What it costs, before you walk in
Nivara publishes the diamond rate rather than quoting it on request. For a VVS clarity, E colour, ideal cut round brilliant:

These figures are for the stone alone. A finished piece adds gold at the prevailing rate, making charges and tax, all itemised. You can work out roughly where a piece will land before you arrive, which is the point of publishing the rate. Prices move with the gold rate.
What happens after you buy
This is where policies differ most between jewellers and are described most vaguely, so it is worth reading closely.
- Lifetime exchange at 100% of the current gold and diamond value. Within 15 days of purchase the full invoice value counts. After that, making charges and taxes are deducted.
- Lifetime buyback at 100% of the current gold value and 85% of the current diamond value.
- Free resizing on rings within 30 days. Rings are made to order.
- Lifetime care: polishing, cleaning and prong tightening, for as long as the piece is worn.
Prong tightening is the unglamorous one that matters most. Stones are lost from loose prongs, not bad luck, and a piece checked once a year rarely loses its diamond.
