Layering Necklaces

Diamond Layering Necklaces India

Layering is the art of necklaces that appear to have grown together. At Nivara, our lab grown diamond necklaces are designed with layering in mind. Each piece has a considered weight, chain length, and pendant size that lets it coexist beautifully with one, two, or three other chains worn simultaneously.

The classic layering combination pairs a fine 16-inch diamond pendant chain close to the collarbone with a longer 18-inch symbolic necklace at the chest, and an 20-inch minimal station necklace that falls below. The result is depth, movement, and a constellation of light across the neckline.

All Nivara layering necklaces use IGI-certified lab grown diamonds. Chains are available in 14K and 18K yellow, white, and rose gold. Chain lengths can be adjusted at the time of order. Pendants are available in round, pear, emerald, and marquise cuts depending on the style.

For a personalised recommendation, visit our showrooms in Hyderabad, Bangalore, or Indore, or book a virtual layering consultation. Our consultants will help you build a stack that works with your neckline, your wardrobe, and the other jewellery you wear daily.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is layering, and what is in this collection?
Layering means wearing two or three necklaces of different lengths together so they sit in tiers rather than competing at the same level. This is our largest neckwear edit at 175 pieces, mixing necklaces and pendants precisely so you can build a combination, from the fine Anek circular marquise minimalist pendant to the Mode Cluster Vow and Flora Sparkwake necklaces.
How do I layer necklaces so they do not tangle?
Separate each layer by at least 2 inches in length, so 16, 18 and 20 inches works well. Put the shortest on first. Vary the visual weight, keeping one piece as the focal point and the others finer, rather than wearing three substantial pieces together. Matching the metal colour across layers reads as deliberate, while mixing colours needs one piece that combines both to tie it together.
Why is the price range so wide here?
Because the collection is built for combining, it spans from about ₹26,000 for a fine minimalist pendant to about ₹46,96,000 for the most substantial diamond necklaces we make. The diamond is ₹50,000 per carat for VVS clarity and E colour, the same rate for every buyer, and metal and setting are additional, so the range simply reflects how much diamond a piece carries.
Should all the layers be the same karat?
If they will be worn together constantly, yes. Two chains rubbing against each other will wear, and a harder 14K alloy will abrade a softer 18K one over years. Matching the karat means they wear at the same rate. All pieces are available in 14K or 18K BIS hallmarked gold in yellow, rose or white.
Can I order the layers together so they are made as a set?
Yes, and it is worth doing. Every piece is made to order in about three weeks, so ordering the combination at once means the chain lengths and the metal colour are set to work together rather than matched afterwards. The showroom teams in Hyderabad, Bangalore and Indore will lay combinations out on you before you decide, 7 days a week from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm.
Are the small diamonds in fine chain pieces properly certified?
Yes. Every Nivara diamond, regardless of size or the price of the piece it sits in, is VVS clarity, E colour and ideal cut, hearts and arrows precise, cleared through 27 quality checks and IGI certified with the report number laser inscribed on the girdle. Each ships with a light performance report grading brightness, fire and contrast.
