Round Cut Engagement Rings: Designs, Sizes and Prices in India

Round lab grown diamond solitaire on a rose gold pave band, worn on the hand beside small blue flowers

Updated 15 October 2026

A round brilliant is the classic engagement diamond: 57 facets cut to return light with a bright, even sparkle from every angle. A 1 carat round measures about 6.5 mm across. At Nivara a 1 carat diamond is ₹50,000, with the gold and setting added, and the rings below show how the same stone looks in eight settings.

Why a round brilliant

  • It is built for light. The 57 facets are arranged to return light through the top of the stone, which gives the round its bright, lively sparkle.
  • It is easy to live with. A circle has no corners to catch on a sleeve, so it suits a ring you wear every day.
  • It suits every setting. Solitaire, halo, pave band, side stones: the round sits well in all of them.
  • It is the reference shape. Carat charts, size guides and price lists are written for rounds first, so it is the easiest stone to compare.

Choosing between shapes? Our guide to diamond shapes sets them out, and the solitaire rings for women guide covers the single stone design in depth.

Round cut engagement ring designs

Eight designs from our round solitaire rings. Prices are for 14k gold and move with the gold rate. Every ring is made to order in 14k or 18k gold, and each product page lists the gold colours that design comes in. Weights marked "in all" are the total for every diamond in the ring, so the centre stone alone weighs less.

Four prong solitaire

Four slim prongs hold the stone high, so light enters from every side. Nothing competes with the diamond.

Settings and metal

With a round, the setting decides the mood. Four prongs read light and modern; six prongs read classic; a halo reads bold; a pave band adds sparkle without changing the stone. Every Nivara piece comes with lifetime prong tightening, so the setting stays firm.

For metal, yellow and rose gold give a round a warm glow, and white gold gives a cooler, brighter look. Look at the gold colours against your own skin before you choose. Every Nivara diamond is VVS clarity, E colour and ideal cut, and IGI certified, with the report number laser inscribed on solitaires. If you are comparing jewellers, our guide to the top lab grown diamond brands in India sets out what to ask each one.

Round, oval, cushion or princess

Next to an oval, a round is compact and even where an oval is long and slimming. Next to a cushion, it gives a finer scatter of light where a cushion gives a softer glow. Next to a princess, it trades sharp corners for a circle that suits everyday wear. The right answer is the outline that looks best on your own hand.

Frequently asked questions

What is a round brilliant cut diamond?

A round brilliant is a circular diamond with 57 facets (58 if you count the tiny flat at the tip), cut to send light back up through the top of the stone. It is the most traditional engagement ring shape, and the one every other shape is compared with.

What size is a 1 carat round diamond?

About 6.5 mm across. A 0.50 carat round is about 5.2 mm, a 1.50 carat about 7.4 mm, a 2 carat about 8.2 mm and a 3 carat about 9.4 mm. At Nivara a 1 carat diamond is ₹50,000 before the gold and setting.

Should I choose four prongs or six prongs for a round diamond?

Four prongs show more of the stone and let in more light, and give a slightly squarer look from above. Six prongs hold the diamond at more points and give a rounder outline. Both are available, so try each on your own hand.

Does a round diamond look bigger than other shapes?

A round of a given weight is compact and even, so it looks neat rather than long. Shapes such as the oval or marquise stretch along the finger for the same weight. Our guide to round brilliant vs oval compares the two side by side.

How much does a round cut engagement ring cost at Nivara?

Every Nivara diamond is priced at ₹50,000 per carat for VVS clarity and E colour, with the gold and setting added. Our Amora four prong round solitaire, 0.50 carat, starts from around ₹49,000 in 14k gold, and prices move with the gold rate.
