Diamond earrings come in five families. Studs sit on the lobe. Huggies and hoops circle it. J hoops curve down and under it. Drops hang a single stone below it, and danglers move. Studs and huggies are the everyday choice; drops and danglers belong to evenings and weddings. Below, each design with real pieces and prices.
Studs
Solitaire studs
One diamond on each ear, held in prongs. The most worn earring there is, because it suits every face, every outfit and every age. Round is the classic; the size decides whether it whispers or speaks.
Thea four prong round studs, from around ₹38,000. One round diamond in four prongs on each ear, 0.50 carat in all.
Fancy shape studs
The same idea with a different outline: heart, oval, pear, princess or emerald cut. A shape other than round makes a solitaire stud personal without making it louder.
Sia heart studs, from around ₹38,000. A heart shaped diamond in three prongs on each ear, 0.50 carat in all.
Halo studs
A ring of small diamonds around the centre stone. The halo makes the stud read larger than its centre, and adds sparkle from every angle.
Sol round halo studs, from around ₹86,000. A round diamond framed by a halo of small diamonds on each ear, 1.15 carat in all.
Hidden halo studs
From the front, a solitaire. From the side, a band of small diamonds tucked beneath the stone. A quiet detail for someone who notices details.
Mirage hidden halo studs, from around ₹77,000. A round solitaire on each ear with a hidden halo under the stone, 0.92 carat in all.
Huggies and hoops
Huggies
Small hoops that hold the lobe with no gap. They stay on through a working day and a night out, and they sit well in a second piercing next to a stud.
Amaya Eventide huggies, from around ₹33,000. Slim huggies lined with round diamonds, each ending in a small pear diamond, 0.30 carat in all.
Hoops
Larger than a huggie, a hoop hangs just below the lobe and frames the jaw. Diamonds can line the front, circle both faces, or gather in a single centre stone.
Amaya round centre hoops, from around ₹1,10,000. A round diamond at the front of a slim hoop, with smaller diamonds along its sides, 1.12 carat in all.
J hoops
A half hoop shaped like the letter J. The diamonds run down the front of the lobe and curve under it, so the earring looks fuller than its weight.
Jess J hoops, from around ₹94,000. A pear and a round diamond at the top, and a line of small diamonds curving down and under the lobe, 1.00 carat in all.
Drops and danglers
Drops
A stone at the lobe and a second hanging below it. A drop adds length and movement while staying light enough for a full day.
Vanya round and pear drops, from around ₹50,000. A round diamond at the lobe with a pear diamond hanging below, 0.60 carat in all.
Mira pear halo drops, from around ₹84,000. A pear diamond in a halo, hanging from a bar of small diamonds, 1.08 carat in all.
Danglers
Several stones on fine chains or links that move as she does. The earring for weddings, festivals and any evening that runs late.
Mode pear and round danglers, from around ₹1,74,500. Fine chains of small diamonds falling from a cluster of pear and round diamonds, 2.00 carat in all.
Statement drops
A drop built as a composition: a flower, a cluster or a halo stacked above a large stone. One pair carries the whole look.
Vanya flower and pear drops, from around ₹1,20,000. A flower of pear diamonds above a pear diamond in a halo, 1.74 carat in all.
Which design for which occasion
| Occasion | Designs that work | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Every day, office | Solitaire studs, huggies, small hoops | Close to the ear, nothing to catch, suit any outfit |
| Dinners, evenings | Halo studs, drops, medium hoops | More light and a little movement |
| Weddings, festivals | Danglers, statement drops, halo drops | Hold their own against silk, embroidery and heavy necklines |
| A gift, unsure of her taste | Solitaire studs | No size needed, and they go with what she already wears |
Which earrings suit your face shape
- Round face: drops and slim danglers, which add a vertical line. Choose small or elongated hoops over large round ones.
- Oval face: almost every design works, so choose by occasion.
- Long face: studs, huggies and hoops, which add width at the jaw. Keep danglers short.
- Square face: curves soften the angles: hoops, round halos and pear drops.
- Heart shaped face: drops that widen at the bottom, such as pear drops, balance a narrower chin.
Backs, closures and comfort
Studs close with a push back that slides onto the post, or a screw back that threads onto it; for larger stones a screw back is the secure choice. Huggies and hoops usually close with a hinged post that clicks shut. Danglers carry more weight below the lobe, so wear them with a back that sits flat and supports the post. Ask which back a pair comes with before you buy.
What diamond earrings cost
At Nivara the diamond is priced at ₹50,000 per carat, always VVS clarity, E colour and ideal cut, so the price of a pair follows its total carat weight plus the gold. Pairs start from around ₹13,000 for small studs and go above ₹3 lakh for statement danglers. Prices on this page are for 14k gold and move with the gold rate. Our earrings price guide breaks it down by carat, and VVS explained shows why we use one clarity for every stone.

Frequently asked questions
Which diamond earrings are best for daily wear?
Solitaire studs, huggies and small hoops. They sit close to the ear, have nothing to catch on hair or clothes, and go with everything from office wear to a kurta. A pair with 0.25 to 0.50 carat in each ear is bright without being loud.
What are the different types of diamond earrings?
The main designs are solitaire studs, halo studs, huggies, hoops, J hoops, drops and danglers. Studs sit on the lobe, huggies and hoops circle it, J hoops curve under it, drops hang one stone below it and danglers hang several that move.
Which earrings suit a round face?
Drops and danglers suit a round face best, because a vertical line below the lobe adds length. Pear drops and slim linear danglers work well. Large round hoops repeat the curve of the face, so a smaller or elongated hoop is the better choice.
How much do lab grown diamond earrings cost?
At Nivara, every diamond is priced at ₹50,000 per carat for VVS clarity and E colour, and the gold and setting are added depending on the design. Pairs start from around ₹13,000 for small studs and go above ₹3 lakh for statement danglers.
Are diamond earrings a good investment?
Buy diamond earrings to wear. That said, every Nivara pair carries a lifetime exchange at 100% of its current gold and diamond value, and a lifetime buyback at 100% gold and 85% diamond value, so the value stays with the piece.
