What makes a heart shaped diamond difficult to cut well?
Symmetry. The two lobes must match precisely, the cleft between them must be sharp and centred, and the point at the bottom must align with the cleft. A heart that is even slightly off balance is obvious to the naked eye in a way that an imperfect round never is. Every Nivara diamond is cut to ideal proportions and passes 27 quality checks before it is set, which matters more in this shape than in almost any other.

Setting and metal are additional and depend on the design you choose. Heart cuts lose more rough in the cutting than a round does, but that does not change the ₹50,000 per carat rate you pay.
Which way should the point of the heart face?
Conventionally the point faces towards the wearer's hand, with the lobes towards the fingertips, so the heart reads correctly to the person wearing it. It is a matter of preference rather than a rule, and it is worth deciding before you order since each ring is made to order in about three weeks and we set the stone in the orientation you want.
Is the point of the heart fragile?
It is the one part of the shape that concentrates any impact, which is why every heart in this edit is set with the point protected by a prong rather than left open. Diamond is a 10 on the Mohs scale so it resists scratching from almost anything, but a sharp point still deserves a prong. Take the ring off for heavy manual work and have the setting checked at any Nivara showroom periodically.
