What exactly is an asscher cut?
An asscher is a square step cut with deeply cropped corners, giving it an octagonal outline and a distinctive series of concentric squares that draw the eye inward, often described as a hall of mirrors. It is one of the most architectural diamond shapes and reads as deliberately vintage. This is a small, deliberate edit of two designs, the Amara asscher halo ring and a Toi et Moi pairing a radiant with an asscher.
Why does an asscher demand such high clarity?
Its open step facets give you a clear view straight into the stone, so there is nowhere for an inclusion to hide. An asscher at a middling clarity grade shows its flaws plainly. Every Nivara diamond is VVS clarity and E colour, which is the range where this cut looks the way it is meant to, and each stone is IGI certified with the report number laser inscribed on the girdle.
Why are there only two asscher designs?
The asscher is a specialist shape and we would rather cut two designs properly than pad the page. What do these rings cost?
The two designs currently sit at about ₹59,000 and about ₹1,44,000. The diamond itself is charged at ₹50,000 per carat for VVS clarity and E colour, the same rate for every buyer, and the setting and metal are additional. The Toi et Moi is the higher of the two because it carries two significant stones.
Is an asscher a good everyday ring?
The cropped corners make it more robust than a sharp cornered square, and diamond is a 10 on the Mohs scale. The practical consideration is upkeep rather than durability. Those broad flat facets show smudges quickly, so a weekly clean in warm water with a drop of mild soap and a soft brush keeps the mirror effect working.
