When is Dhanteras 2026?
Dhanteras is on Friday, 6 November 2026, two days before Diwali on Sunday, 8 November. It falls on the thirteenth lunar day, the trayodashi, of the dark fortnight, and the puja time differs from city to city, so check a local panchang for yours. Karwa Chauth comes first, on Thursday, 29 October. If you are shopping for that too, see our Karwa Chauth gift ideas by budget.
What to buy on Dhanteras
Dhanteras opens the days of Diwali. Traditionally it is the day to bring something new and precious home: gold, silver or a new utensil. A diamond piece in hallmarked gold keeps to that custom and is something you wear every day. The gold is BIS hallmarked 14k or 18k and the diamonds are IGI certified. If you are buying for yourself, Dhanteras is as good a day to choose your own piece as to give one.

Under ₹25,000: studs with the gold in front
Here the gold is as much of the design as the diamond. Folded gold and fine wire hold a single round diamond, and a pair is light enough to wear every day. More in diamond studs.
Mode Linework studs, from around ₹22,000. A folded gold star with a round diamond at its centre, 0.17 carat across the pair.
Mode Wirework studs, from around ₹23,000. Loops of fine gold wire cross to frame a round diamond in each ear, 0.17 carat across the pair.
₹25,000 to ₹50,000: a pendant on a gold chain
A pendant sits at the collarbone every day, and at this level the gold of the frame and the chain carries as much of the look as the diamonds. See more lab grown diamond pendants.
Rupak Center Vow pendant, from around ₹27,000. A gold hexagon frame holding a vertical line of diamonds, with one small diamond above it, 0.24 carat in all. The product page states which chain comes with it.
Mode Halo Drop pendant, from around ₹37,000. A rounded gold capsule framing a panel of small diamonds, 0.35 carat in all. The product page states which chain comes with it.
₹50,000 to ₹1 lakh: a mangalsutra or a bangle
If she wears a mangalsutra every day, a diamond one keeps the black beads and the gold chain and adds a centre set with diamonds. A bangle puts the gold on show, and a slim one sits easily with the bangles she already wears. See more diamond mangalsutras and lab grown diamond bangles.
Flora Lumenleaf mangalsutra, from around ₹62,000. A gold chain with two black beads on each side of a cluster of diamonds: a marquise at the centre, a marquise on each side and two small round diamonds between, 0.24 carat in all.
Sol cluster bangle, from around ₹83,000. A slim gold bangle with a round cluster of diamonds at its centre, 0.85 carat in all.
₹1 lakh and above: a larger bangle or a kada
At this level the pieces grow: a bangle that carries a flower of diamonds, or a kada with a twist of small diamonds winding round the gold. Both are pieces to keep for years. See more lab grown diamond kada bracelets.
Flora floral bangle, from around ₹1,49,500. An open gold bangle that ends in a diamond flower on one side and a diamond bud on the other, 1.20 carats in all.
Aroha Twine kada, from around ₹1,62,500. A slim gold kada with a twist of small diamonds winding across its front, 0.63 carat in all.
When to order for Dhanteras, Friday 6 November
Every Nivara piece is made to order, and the pieces on our website usually take 18 to 20 days to deliver, depending on the design. Counting back 20 days from Dhanteras, the safe date to order is Saturday, 17 October. Book a video consultation or message us with the piece you have in mind, and ask for the ready date of that exact piece before you decide. We will confirm it.
If the 17th has passed, ask all the same, because the time depends on the design. Diwali on Sunday, 8 November follows two days later, and every piece here is a Diwali gift too. If your family's custom is to buy on the day itself, tell us when you write.
A Dhanteras gift for your wife, or for yourself
The best Dhanteras gift is one she would choose herself, so choose together if you can. Send her this page, or book a private viewing and let her try the pieces on. Buying for yourself, choose the piece you will put on the next morning. For more ideas for the days around the festival, see our Diwali and Dhanteras diamond gifts.
How to check gold jewellery before you pay
Whichever jeweller you choose, check the hallmark before you pay. The Bureau of Indian Standards lists three marks on hallmarked gold jewellery:
- The BIS standard mark.
- The purity in carat and fineness, such as 18K750 or 14K585.
- A six digit HUID code of letters and numbers, unique to that piece.
The BIS Care app has a Verify HUID feature: enter the code and it shows the details recorded for that piece. Every Nivara piece is 14k or 18k BIS hallmarked gold, and you can ask to see the marks on the piece you are buying. For how the two purities differ in strength, colour and price, read our guide to 14K vs 18K gold for diamond jewellery.
Then ask four things, of any jeweller:
- What does the piece weigh? Ask for the gold weight in grams and the diamond weight in carats for the exact piece.
- How is the price built? At Nivara the diamond is ₹50,000 per carat, with the gold and setting added.
- What are exchange and buyback, in writing? At Nivara the lifetime exchange is at 100% of the current gold and diamond value, and within 15 days of purchase the full invoice value counts; after that, making charges and taxes are deducted. The lifetime buyback is at 100% of the gold value and 85% of the diamond value.
- When will this exact piece be ready? Ask for the date before you pay.
Houses answer these differently. Our guide to the best lab grown diamond brands in India sets out eight questions to put to any brand, ours included, and compares five of them.
What comes with every piece
- One diamond standard, whatever the budget: VVS clarity, E colour, ideal cut.
- IGI certification, and on solitaires the report number laser inscribed on the stone, so the paper and the diamond are one.
- 14k or 18k BIS hallmarked gold.
- A lifetime exchange at 100% of the current gold and diamond value, and a lifetime buyback at 100% gold and 85% diamond value.
- Lifetime polishing, cleaning and prong tightening, for as long as the piece is worn.

Every Nivara diamond is VVS clarity, E colour and ideal cut with an IGI report, so the budget changes the size and the design, never the standard.
Can I still order diamond jewellery for Dhanteras 2026?
Dhanteras is Friday, 6 November 2026. The pieces on our website usually take 18 to 20 days to deliver, depending on the design, so order by Saturday, 17 October to have yours in time. Message us, name the piece and ask when that exact piece will be ready before you decide. If your family's custom is to buy on the day itself, tell us and we will plan the order with you.
How do I check that gold jewellery is hallmarked?
Look for three marks: the BIS standard mark, the purity in carat and fineness such as 18K750 or 14K585, and a six digit HUID code of letters and numbers. The BIS Care app has a Verify HUID feature that shows the details recorded for that code.
Is lab grown diamond jewellery right for Dhanteras?
Dhanteras is traditionally about bringing gold home, and the gold in every Nivara piece is BIS hallmarked 14k or 18k. The diamonds are real diamonds, grown in a lab and certified by IGI. Families follow different customs on the day and on gemstones, so choose what yours is comfortable with, and if an astrologer guides you, ask about your own chart.
