What is the difference between a bangle and a bracelet?
A bangle is a rigid closed form that holds its shape and slides over the hand or opens on a hinge. A bracelet is flexible and drapes around the wrist. What is a kada, and do you make them?
A kada is a broad, substantial rigid bangle with deep roots in Indian jewellery tradition, usually heavier and wider than a Western bangle. The Ishar Heritage bangle in this collection is our lab-grown diamond kada. It carries considerably more metal weight than a fine bangle, which is the main reason kada pieces sit higher in price.
How do I get the size right for a rigid bangle?
This matters more than for any other piece, because a rigid bangle must pass over the widest part of your hand and then sit correctly on the wrist. Measure around the knuckles with your thumb tucked into the palm, as if putting the bangle on, rather than measuring your wrist. Get measured at a showroom if you can, since every bangle is made to order in about three weeks and is not resized afterwards.
Why is an oval bangle shape used so often here?
Because a wrist is oval, not circular. An oval bangle follows the actual anatomy, so it sits still rather than rotating, keeps the diamond work facing upward where it can be seen, and slides over the hand more easily for a given internal circumference. Most of the designs here, from Noor, Anek, Elyra and Elina, are oval for that reason.
What do bangles cost?
